6/11/2023 0 Comments Beneath a steel sky stuck![]() This is a game genre that is almost completely gone today, and that is a shame, but I just don't feel like this particular title holds up that well even against other games from its era. There are definitely better places to get your retro game fix I think. Also, there's no real incentive to replay the game as the storyline is very linear and once you have completed it, there are no alternate endings or anything like that. ![]() For Beneath, Revolution only had a 1Kb of memory compared to devices such as the iPhone 11, which holds up to 4Gb of memory. The transport crashes, Robert escapes with Joey’s circuit board, and finds himself trapped in a strange and often hostile city many stories above the ground. It seems like I beat the game in a very short period of time. How much things have come in the 25 years since Beneath A Steel Sky is obvious in how much the technology has leaped between 19. The puzzles were pretty basic for the most part, and I don't recall getting stuck on any one part for too long. Beyond a Steel Sky is the action-packed spiritual successor to the original, and creator Charles Cecil is keen to honour the legacy of the first game: ‘The way we do this is that we make sure that all the core elements, all the vital lore, is brought through as part of the gameplay so that players experience it as they’re solving puzzles, as they’re driving the narrative forward.’ At the beginning of the game Joey is damaged and Foster just carries Joeys main circuit board around.
